Our Story
When Ian started Pleasant Tours in 1994, Madurai's travel landscape was a different world. There were no apps, no instant bookings, no algorithms β just a deep love for South India's stories, and a phone that rang when someone wanted to see them. Over three decades, that spirit hasn't changed.
Today, we run everything from quiet local sightseeing drives around the Meenakshi Amman Temple to multi-city journeys through Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. Private car rentals, group bus tours, pilgrimage circuits, hill station retreats β our range is wide, but our attention to your comfort is unchanged.

Where We Take You
Ancient Dravidian temples, Chettinad mansions, sea-washed coastlines β Tamil Nadu holds more living history per square kilometre than almost anywhere on earth.
Explore Tamil Nadu β
The city that never sleeps β temples lit till midnight, jasmine in the air, and 2,500 years of story in every lane.
Explore Madurai β
Backwaters that move at their own pace, tea gardens that vanish into cloud, and a cuisine that'll reroute your idea of spice.
Explore Kerala βMist-wrapped valleys, the still mirror of Kodai Lake, and cool air that makes you forget the plains exist.
Explore Kodaikanal β
Where the land gives way to ocean and the air carries the scent of incense and salt β India's holiest southern circuit.
Explore Rameshwaram β
Where three seas converge at land's end β the sunrise here is unlike anywhere else in India.
Explore Kanyakumari βHeritage Walk Β· Madurai
Most visitors know Madurai for its towering Dravidian temples. Fewer know the quiet colonial layer beneath β stone churches, a textile mill that once employed thousands, a post office shaped like an aircraft, and a cemetery where the oldest grave dates to 1770. The British Trail in Madurai covers 13 landmarks that tell that forgotten story, ending with an authentic Anglo-Indian lunch at Cheryl's Kitchen.

The Pleasant Difference
Most of our new clients come through someone who travelled with us before. That quiet fact says more about our work than any award ever could.
Guest Stories
The best travel stories aren't written by us β they're lived by the people we take there.
"I've had the pleasure to meet and know Ian and some of his team. They have a heart to serve others and are professional in what they do. I wish them more success and happy stays at Shalom with all who book with him. God bless."
"The Rameshwaram circuit they planned for us was extraordinary. Every detail was taken care of β the ritual timings, the accommodation, the route. We just got to be fully present. Not a single worry the entire trip."
"We asked for something beyond the Meenakshi Temple β the real Madurai. Ian's team took us to Samanar Hills and through the old silk lanes. It felt like the city was sharing a secret just with us."
"Kodaikanal in November, just the two of us. An itinerary loose enough to wander, a driver who knew every viewpoint, and stays that felt personal rather than transactional. Exactly what we needed."
